Prime Time (Single) Reviews

   Zillions Magazine

Hailing from the Birmingham heartlands comes a four-piece unity-named and meaning-driven Ballsy-rock outfit Big Cell. Their new single, "Prime Time," is not so much a song as a reflection of our world right now, draped in a captivating rock backdrop. Gritty, poetic, and full of conviction, "Prime Time" is the kind of track that pushes back.

There is no shortage of lyrical depth with Big Cell, and that trend continues with "Prime Time." It draws you into a place that feels scorched with truth. From the plains and out of the heat haze, Mother Nature, our only fear, unfolds a narrative around the tug-of-war between hope and societal ruin. It's not an old-fashioned protest anthem but a call to awareness, resilience, and collective responsibility.

This track feels like a cold slap of irony, a subtle disquisition on contemporary media's fetish for sensationalism and our collective lust for a distraction. It's a nice little trick that makes what sounds like a sunny hook something more provocative. The following instrumentals give the message breadth, allowing the sound to breathe while the meaning lingers. "Prime Time" is firmly grounded in rock with an experimental edge, solid drums, layered guitars, and a rhythm that keeps your attention throughout. It doesn't over-polish, and the rawness only compounds its authenticity. This is foreground thought.

There's camaraderie in the way that Big Cell dances around their sound. Every line and chord feels like it comes from shared experience and purpose. Their conviction that we all start from one cell seeps into every note, and that shared affinity, "Prime Time," the feeling of less of a performance and more of a conversation with the world. In a period when music shies away from the big questions, Big Cell says it loud and proud, loud and clear, and the evidence is irrefutable that they're not just making music but making meaning with it.

New Music Review

This track has a great vibe, the underlying Bass lines combined with the rhythm patterns create solid ground to allow the guitars and vocals to do their thing, the guitars add colour and ambience to the mix, whilst the vocal lines and melodies provide the catchy hook lines to hang onto, overall a nice sounding track.

"Prime Time comes out the gates hot and never really looks back; there's loads of energy/objective quality on display here. Liked the driven guitar tones. Chunky bass low end. Dynamic yet punchy live kit drumming backbone. Edgy lead vocal performance with nicely layered backing vox sitting right behind. Like the album art to boot. It's got a punky irreverence to it. I appreciate the listen despite not feeling it’s a 10/10 fit. Keep it up! "

Your song is great; it’s an alternative rock track.  The song starts with a guitar that defines the style with its details, accompanied by a drum that sets the rhythm and gives way to a powerful voice. At minute 1:50 there is a bridge marked by the guitar

"Hello everyone, I heard your new song. Another classic rock number, with a vigorous sound. You present beautiful guitar work, a fast-paced rhythm, and a performance full of energy. Many merits and good references, good influences put into practice

Music For All

Big Prime" brings a creative and lively arrangement, with elements that permeate between classic rock, with good doses of guitar, and a certain groove of the most modern alternative bands, with emphasis on its great production and its striking chorus.

"An opening groove with the Bass line and disonent guitar chords got my immediate attention"

End Sessions

Let's dance and rock to one of the funniest melodies you'll hear this 2025. We are going to dance and move the whole body to the rhythm of the amazing bass of Prime Time a song by the band Big CELL, this song has a wonderful bass, which has power and its sound is completely warm and defined, I love the riff that it gives us since it is fast and very moving and really makes you move to its rhythm. The drums have a very rock style and also their sound is quite dry on the snare drum and sounds very good. And of course you will love the bells with which the piece begins and will invite you to listen and enjoy this great and amazing song.

I liked the guitars too much, I like the play of dynamics and riffs, plus the final solo is enjoyable and is fresh and contagious. If you like the music of bands like The Who, Eagles and the fabulous rhythm of The Rolling Stones, I bet you will be delighted with the sound of Big CELL and in addition to becoming one of your favorite bands, you will dance and move your whole body to the rhythm of Prime Time. I think this song keeps the style and sound of English rock well. "There's no better bass than Big CELL"

Expansion Radical

BiG CELL – Prime Time (Alternative Rock)

BiG CELL presents itself as a band that bets on songs with a message, well arranged and full of energy. Their new single Prime Time is a sonic journey that mixes alternative rock with a psychedelic seventies vibe. The proposal has groove, social criticism and a production that feels honest. And that, these days, is worth a lot.

Prime Time

This song has a thoughtful and direct tone. The role of the media, modern comfort and the lack of collective action are questioned. "We're relying on Prime Time, my friend / To bring us the crime again" sounds sarcastic, but accurate. It puts us in front of the mirror and asks us an uncomfortable question: are we really seeing, or are we just consuming?

There is also a wake-up call: "Stand up and fight, look into the light and rely". It is not only criticism, it is a call to regain consciousness. I liked that balance between poetry and clarity. The song does not preach, but it does leave you thinking. It has that edge that every good protest song needs.

The music of BiG CELL

Musically, this song has a groove that gets into your body. The bass is the protagonist with a line that guides the melody with ease. The drums are solid, precise, and maintain a rhythm that keeps you on your toes. The guitars, on the other hand, vibrate with that psychedelic texture very much of seventies rock.

Vocally, BiG CELL delivers a melodic, energetic and bright performance. It feels natural, without overproduction, which gives it an authentic vibe. The dynamic of the song is very good: it goes up, down, and keeps the interest until the end. It's a song that hooks you without the need for trite formulas.

Listen and follow their journey

Prime Time is proof that BiG CELL has something to say and knows how to make it sound good. Follow them on their social networks, and as always, here I will continue to share music that shakes your senses.
